Why are we so enamored by the Royal weddings? All around the world, people are fascinated by Royalty, especially British Royalty. How many of us watch the Royal weddings? Do we dream that we are that bride? Do girls fantasize about being princesses? Do people envy those who are waited on for their every need?
I have to admit I love to watch the propriety of it all, the clothes they wear, the protocol they must follow, and the respect and admiration they appear to have toward one another. Everything seems so perfect from the outside. I’d like to think it really is that way. I stay away from reading any gossip that emerges about anything, but especially when it’s about British Royalty. I know their lives are not perfect, after all they are just people and people aren’t perfect. One of my favorite TV series was “Downton Abbey”. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a fictional story about a British Royal family and their servants. I’m not sure how realistic it is, but it really drew you in so you felt like you knew the characters personally. I got to love these characters so much that when one of the main characters was killed off, I was pretty devastated and did not want to watch it for a while.

But the kingdoms of this world are built on sand and not on the rock of God and His word, so they will eventually die. They are not eternal kingdoms, so they will come to an end.
Chosen for the kingdom
We, as Christians, are part of a kingdom that is flawless. It is ruled by a perfect King who gave His earthly life up for His children. The bible talks about this perfect, eternal kingdom many times throughout scripture. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Wow! That is one of the most profound truths in all of scripture! We have been chosen to be part of this Royal family! Just like earthly monarchies, we cannot earn our way into the kingdom; we must be chosen! How awesome is it when God chooses us to be part of His kingdom! He takes us out of the darkness of sin and damnation and brings us into Himself filled with light and salvation. What an amazing picture!
A kingdom that can never be destroyed
The kingdom of God is eternal. Luke 1:33 says, “And He will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end. God’s reigns over His people here on earth and His kingdom will last throughout eternity.” How comforting! We are safe and secure under the rule and protection of our loving King of Kings!!
The Royal kingdoms of this earth cannot be compared to the eternal, perfect kingdom of our heavenly LORD JESUS! So the next time we are envious of British Royalty, we need to look up and be grateful that we are a part of the ultimate kingdom where we will lack absolutely nothing!
The Ultimate Royal Wedding
The bible gives us a picture of the most glorious wedding of all. Jesus represents the bridegroom waiting for His bride (the church) and we will be join Him in glory forever! Revelation 19:7 says, “Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has made herself ready.” The fanciest weddings on all the earth cannot compare to what’s to come for us!
To God be the glory!
