Watching the sunrise is a wonderful way to reflect on God and His goodness.
What a blessing it is to be able to get up at dawn to catch a beautiful sunrise!
It’s not always feasible to wake up early enough to watch the sun break through the horizon, indicating the start of a new day. But when possible, it is a glorious time to sit quietly before the LORD.
I am blessed in that I have lived on the east coast my whole life. Watching the sunrise over the ocean is especially breathtaking.
Things to reflect upon
We see the evidence of what God has brought into existence all around us. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” We can read the full account of how God created the heavens, the earth, humanity, and everything that exists.
The attributes of God is something we can meditate on for hours.
He is love. 1 John 4:16 says, “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God.”
He is good. Psalm 86:5 says, “For you, O LORD, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon You.”
He is merciful. Deuteronomy 4:31 says, “For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.”
He is longsuffering. Psalm 86:15 says, “But You, O LORD, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”
He is just. Deuteronomy 32:4 says, “The Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity just and upright is He.”
He is holy. 1 Samuel 2:2 says, “There is none holy like the LORD: for is none besides You; there is no rock like our God.”
We can reflect on the goodness of God and what He has done. Psalm 27:13 says, “I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.”
There is so much to be thankful for as we think about all the great things God has done for us!
